film friday: sylvia

"sometimes i feel like i'm not... solid. i'm hollow. there's nothing behind my eyes. i'm a negative of a person. it's as if i never thought anything. i never wrote anything, i never felt anything. all i want is blackness. blackness and silence."
sylvia, 2003
sylvia breaks your heart and stomps on it,
and it does it in such a beautiful, tragic way.

all i could think after finishing the movie
was how much i wanted to read ariel again and again:
"i have fallen a long way. clouds are flowering
blue and mystical over the face of the stars
inside the church, the saints will all be blue,
floating on their delicate feet over the cold pews,
their hands and faces stiff with holiness.
the moon sees nothing of this. she is bald and wild.
and the message of the yew tree is blackness – blackness and silence."
i love her words so much

hope you have a lovely weekend
