film friday: breakfast at tiffany's

"i'm like cat here, a no-name slob. we belong to nobody, and nobody belongs to us. we don't even belong to each other. "

breakfast at tiffany's, 1961.
it is a truth universally acknowledged
that whenever i hear moon river, i cry.

such a beautiful song for such a beautiful movie.
and just like with gilbert grape,
the more i watch it, the more i love it.

(when i was little, i wanted to have a cat
just to name it cat)

just a minute in january

homemade yogurt, peaches, almonds & cardamom

january was a month with lots of letters, flowers & green,
books and threads, sundresses and dinners with friends,
homemade ice cream and pools, honeydew melons & naps.

it was also, for the most part, unbearably hot and suffocating.

oh, autumn, do hurry up! pixel and i are eagerly waiting for you
we cannot endure another day with temperatures over 40ºc

reading the wild things, dave eggers
watching in the mood for love
listening to birds and crickets
working on a new book
making little handmade presents for my lovely pen pals
loving these past few cooler, rainy days

have a wonderful day!

december, 2013.
on an incredibly hot summer day
i went to buy some christmas presents
and found a beautiful hidden garden

film friday: ryan's daughter

"rose, you're mistaking a penny mirror for the sun - do you not see that?"
ryan's daughter, 1970
i confess, i have a soft spot for old films. i love them.
so, for me, even if it was slow and (three hours) long,
and even if i hated the villagers, it was still pretty to watch.

all that wonderful landscapes
and the colours on the forest scene,
how beautiful & enchanting it was!
