montevideo (IV)

“put your soul in the palm of my hand for me to look at, like a crystal jewel. i'll sketch it in words.”
― yasunari kawabata

parque rodó, montevideo. uruguay

take me back to simpler, greener days
of wandering in parks and befriending ducks;
of pressing yellow leaves in books
and falling half asleep under a bright, cold sky.

montevideo (III)

parque rodó, montevideo. uruguay

two months after our short trip to uruguay
i finally had the time to have the photos developed,
and i got to wander again through the green gardens
and pretty art déco houses of parque rodó.

who knows where the time goes

"and i am not alone while my love is near me
i know it will be so until it's time to go
so come the storms of winter and then the birds in spring again
i have no fear of time”

march, 1999.

around this time of the year, some 16 years ago,
when i was not even fifteen and film was still the norm,
and when plastic cameras were not in vogue,
i went away for a few days with a dear school friend
to a little, almost forgotten village
with this cheap and beautifully red rangefinder
and snap some photographs.

a lot of time has passed since
and while i've definitely changed a lot
i've also stayed pretty much the same,
always taking pictures of trees, landscapes and nature.

(boy, i do feel a little old now)

montevideo (I)

punta carrasco, montevideo . uruguay

a few weeks ago, we crossed the river and went to uruguay.
it was a short trip of only a day and half,
and even thou we went because we have errands to do,
we still managed to wander around and take a lot photographs
(yes, i might have gone a bit overboard over at instagram)

mon amour tokyo

tokyo + kamakura
june, 2008

to me, 2008 was a year of summer
even if i was only in tokyo for six days
those rainy, hot and beautiful summer days
were enough to stay with me until springtime
(i do live in the southern hemisphere, after all)

i regret thinking that three rolls of film would be enough
i also regret being so shy and not taking more (film) pictures
- all those precious little streets, the lovely coffee shops,
the parks and fairs, the modern buildings & temples -
but what i most regret is boarding the plane back home.

it's been over five years now and there's not a day that i don't miss it
if i could live anywhere, i'd live in tokyo. or maybe in kamaura

a weekend in the country (VI)

la pampa . day three
april, 2013

on the last day we slept in,
watched the rain fell by the fireside
and later went for a hike with cat. & c.

we picked flowers and thyme,
discover a strange and solitary plant
and waved the fields goodbye
